A superb large bell striking eight day carriage clock by Stevenard of Boulogne from around 1860. Fully restored and overhauled to exacting standards so that it presents beautifully as well as being in perfect working order.

The good coloured case having been relac. Quered to protect it for the years to come. Both mainsprings have been replaced as part of the overhaul.

Pierre Stevenard was an interesting early maker who specialised in automata rather than clocks. The legend on the dial reads "Stevenard, Horologer Mecanicien a Boulogne S/M" The "S/M" would stand for sur mer.

Standing at around 6 3/4 inches with the handle up, this is quite a good sized clock. It is absolutely complete and original and still retains itss geneva stopwork intact. Comes with a good quality period key and not one of those fiddly useless little modern ones.

All glasses are in superb condition as is the wonderfully crisp real enamel dial. There is a little mark on the top where the carry handle has rested for the last century and a half. It also has its outer carry box which is a little tatty, but they nearly always are. It could do with a good waxing, which I will do before it sells.

The carry box is the correct earlyish type and fits like a glove, but I cannot be sure it is the original one, although the impression of the handle in the lid seems to fit. I dont go in for flowery descriptions and try to give the facts as I see them. If there are any questions you need to ask, then please do.
