This is a very nice original R&E twist type doorbell. The bell is well over 100 years old and is in excellent condition and shows its age very nicely. While similar bells were reproduced they are not comparable to the better made originals. The bell rings by turning the key in either direction. The bell is 3" in diameter and the frame extends to 4 1/2" in length. The bell and frame are made of plated iron/steel. The key plate is about 1 3/4" by 4" and is made of brass. The bell is made to fit a door up to 3 thick by cutting the rod as needed.

A big advantage of the twist type bells is that they are easy to install. This bell could also be mounted through a wall with a longer rod. If you want a nice original antique doorbell that is ready to be installed on your front door, you may want to consider this bell.
