Great Western Railway Co. No 8 Brass Bell with Clapper with Brass Hanging Bracket

Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep for yourself. Nice looking gold colored brass bell here with Great Western Railway Co. No 8 engraved on it. Bell was not one used on a train. Just set up with the engraving as a railroadiana collectible.

We would guess the bell was made sometime in the 1960s to 1970s. We can therefore better control our acquisition costs, keep commission costs low (if applicable), and finally, we don't have the overhead that the higher end houses and galleries pass on to their clients. Vintage brass bell and clapper. The bell has a nice patina to it. The clapper for the bell is in place. No maker's mark on the bell that we can observe.

The hanging bracket appears to be made of brass as well. Can hang bell in way now affixed to bell. Think the bracket is more finished on other side to be above the bell, but will work either way. The Vintage Railroad Look Bell body itself is 5-3/8" tall by 6-3/8" across at the base.

The bell with the hanging bracket is 6-3/16" tall, by 7.5" across by the hanging bracket side. Not sure what material the bell is made of. Most likely brass, could be bronze.

No cracks in the bell body. The bell has a nice true ring to it. The clapper is in place and operates. Clapper is most likely made of cast iron. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. Don't be shy to make an offer, we are always open to reasonable suggestions.
