WILLIAM GILBERT CURFEW MANTLE CLOCK WINSTED CONN. Faux wood finish case with patinated cast brass mounts and bell. Beautiful ornate gilt brass/ gold finish around clock face, top of brass bell and base. The base has brass paw feet in front.
The brass bazel has a convex glass lens both in great shape. It is a quite rare 8 day clock with a working bell top. This clock was called a CURFEW Clock stamped 1906.There is also a pat'd mark 1890 on upper pendulum arm. The clock is in all around great shape. I tested it for two days and it keeps good time and chimes on correct time..
The two sided key is included not original, it has one side for winding and one side to adjust for slower or faster"fits a little lose on slow/ fast"located above 12 o'clock. The strike movement chimes on the half hour and the hour with the large exposed bell. On the hour it counts out the hour time For example at 8 o'clock the bell is struck 8 times. Sometimes you see clocks with a bell on top that are just for decoration, but this one is the actual bell you hear striking with a beautiful tone. 16 1/2"L x 17"H x 6Deep Estate find of many antique clocks.
