Antique Style Bronze Figural Bell with Evangelist Names Johannes and Mathevs
This beautifully cast bronze bell features detailed medieval style relief work, including scrolls, foliage, and small figural scenes around the lower band. The inscription includes the names Johannes and Mathevs, which are the Latin forms of John and Matthew and commonly appear on devotional or reproduction cathedral bells from Europe. The bell is solid and weighty for its size, with a rich aged patina and areas of green verdigris in the recessed designs.

The loop handle is cast as part of the bell, and the interior still holds the original clapper. It produces a soft, pleasant chime when rung. This piece was likely made in the late 1800s to early 1900s as a small decorative or devotional bell inspired by medieval European church bells.

Dimensions Height about 3 inches Diameter about 2.5 inches. Features Solid cast bronze or brass Decorative medieval inspired relief scenes Latin names Johannes and Mathevs Original clapper present Rich natural patina.

Condition Good vintage condition with expected wear from age. Surface patina and verdigris are present, adding character and authenticity.

Please see photos for details. A wonderful addition to a bell collection, devotional display, or European antiques shelf.
