Exquisite 100-year-old bronze Mission San Gabriel souvenir handbell topped with a Father Junipero Serra figure handle (founder of the mission in 1771). Lovely, clear, high pitched ring.
4 3/8 inches tall, 2 1/2 inch diameter. Excellent, pristine condition with a luscious patina. Designed and cast by Mrs. Forbes of the Forbes Foundry of Los Angeles, California between 1914 and 1937, this is a replica of the main bell hanging at the mission.
Forbes visited many of the missions and sketched what she could see of the bells hanging in the towers, replicating them in miniature in her foundry. My other antique and vintage mission bell offerings. Thank you for supporting my one-man, home-based, small business in southern California.
I have a very large collection of mission bell items collected over decades; feel free to contact me with any special item requests.
