This is an original Hugo G oberg owl bell, made in Germany around 1900 by celebrated metal artisan Hugo Berger, known for his work under the name Goberg. A standout of the Arts & Crafts and Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) movements, this piece is hand-forged from iron with a flat stylized owl perched atop a hammered iron bell. The owl features riveted brass eyes and a beak-classic hallmarks of Goberg's workshop. Stamped "GERMANY" on the back of the owl.
Signed inside the bell (signature is present but difficult to read due to age/wear). Original clapper intact and fully functional. Height: 8ΒΌ inches (21 cm). Excellent aged patina; surface wear consistent with early 1900s manufacture.
This is a confirmed and documented Goberg design, widely recognized among collectors. Rarely found with all components intact, it makes a superb addition to any collection of antique bells, Arts & Crafts metalwork, or Jugendstil design.
