As the photographs show, this tap bell has a modest lean to one side. It appears very obvious to us that this is a very natural condition that has occurred very, very, slowly over a very long period of time as a result of normal day to day use as a tap bell; this condition has naturally occurred as a result of well over one hundred years of day to day use as a tap bell. We have been collecting antique tap bells for many years, and this is not at all a unusual condition found with many antique tap bells in our experience.
In our view, this condition simply adds to this antique's character and charm. The surfaces of this antique tap bell exhibit age and natural patina. There is natural and age appropriate very tiny and very minute micro chips to the marble base, as is shown within the photographs. There is natural and age appropriate micro wear to the very bottom of the marble base of this tap bell.
Please review the photographs for your own condition assessment. This antique tap bell is very solid and sturdy. And the tap bell plunger, and all of the tap bell mechanical functions, operate very normally and perfectly fine. The tap bell measures approximately 5-3/4" tall and the marble base measures approximately 3-1/2" inches by 3-1/2 inches at the very bottom. We believe that the photographs speak for themselves.
This is a beautiful very old antique circa 1860s -1880s very high quality antique hotel / general store tap call bell, with its original beautiful marble base.
