Antique Brass Bronze Bell 1878 SaGnelegier Chiantel Fondeur Swiss 6 Dia
A gorgeous bell probably made in Switzerland, going by the cross on the side of the bell and the swiss flag having the same cross since 1860's. This bell at one time was painted yellow then red, at the top where it looks like rust it is yellow and red paint. I tried to find the meaning of the words on the bell, with no success. Could not find a Swiss to English. IF ANY ONE KNOWS THE MEANING OR LANGUAGE THIS IS WRITTEN IN PLEASE LET ME KNOW. The bell has a great tone to it. The bell has a really nice patina but if you don't care for it it would look great polished. The bell is 6" across and 5 1/2" high. I think it is brass but have seen them listed as bronze.
