Unusual bell in great condition for age. I have been told this is a servant annunciator for summonsing up to 12 servants. It was patented in 1895 by Oscar G Ahlstrom. Solid walnut case, nickel plated bell. Dates to late 1800's or early 1900's.
Turn the handle on the dial, set it to numbers 1 through 12 and the bell sounds striking once as it goes past each number. Total time is 36 seconds. Once in a while it hangs up due to the manual stop dropping back towards the gear too far.
You have to open the door and push the rod a little to release the stop. The rod is located towards the top of the movement where you'll see a little shaft with a spring. About 10" tall 4" deep and 6 wide. The bell is a 6 diameter.
