Vintage/antique BOJ mechanical turtle desk or reception bell, made in Eibar, Spain. Beautiful ornate damascene-style decorated shell featuring gold-tone floral, scroll and bird motifs against a dark background. Brass/metal turtle body with detailed feet, head and ribbed tail.

The underside is clearly marked. An unusual early Spanish mechanical novelty bell and highly decorative collectible. Vintage condition with age-related patina, surface wear, oxidation and discoloration as shown. The decorated shell retains excellent detail.
