Antique 19th Century Servants / Store / Shop Front Door Brass Bell
ANTIQUE 19TH CENTURY SERVANTS / STORE / SHOPKEEPERS FRONT DOOR BRASS BELL ON COIL SPRING HARDWARE. Stands 8 1/2" high, 3" bell. The coiled spring metal has pitting and rusting but remains strong and sturdy. The brass bell has a small chip on the bottom rim (see picture 8) and the end of the spike has a chip (picture 9) this doesn't affect the lovely Ringggggg (video). This antique doorbell mechanism works with a pull string attached to a door, which would pull the wire to ring the bell. The coiled spring mechanism helps to create a loud ring when activated. These types of bells were used to summon staff in large homes or alert shopkeepers to a customer's arrival. The original mounting screws are not available.
