Antique 10 in Brass Gamewell Turtle Gong, Fire Alarm Bell. I restored the brass gong as best as I could, to bring the shine back. Same with the key and the nut, which are also brass. The gong does have some imperfections, as seen in photos. Mainly just small pits and scratches.
I cleaned the base, and believe the black paint is original. It does have a few brush strokes of white paint, from the firehouse wall painters, I imagine. I opened the back up to check out the inner workings. It all looked to be in excellent condition, so I left it as I found it.
The alarm is currently wound all the way up, ready for some electricity to be hooked up so it can ring. We did hook up a battery to it, which was enough power to move the swinging arm a bit. Personally, I dont want the alarm to sound! Condition is "excellent antique used".
