EXTREMELY RARE Vintage 15.5 German Wood Carved Night Watchman Counter Chime. Up for sale is an incredibly unique and highly collectible mid-century German hand-carved wood Night Watchman (Nachtwächter) counter bell / desk chime. Standing at an impressive 15.5 inches tall, this is an exceptionally rare variation. While standard Black Forest watchman figures hold a lantern or clock, this specialized model features a fully integrated, functional triple brass bell chime.

This piece is a magnificent example of alpine folk art and serves as a phenomenal conversation piece, functional service bell for a boutique bed & breakfast, or an anchor piece for a Black Forest wood carving collection. The Figure: Expertly hand-carved from solid wood with an exquisite, deep aged patina.

Features beautiful sculptural details on the traditional long coat, brimmed hat, and classic clogs. The watchman stands elevated on a tiered wooden pedestal block. The Chime Mechanism: The watchman's extended arm holds a structural metal dome dome canopy. Suspended underneath are three authentic brass cowbells with an attached lower manual striking rod.

The Sound: Gently tapping the hanging rod or the bells creates a delightful, clear, and resonant harmonic chime. Height: 15.5 inches approx. Material: Solid wood, wrought metal canopy, brass bells. Origin: Germany / Alpine Region (Mid-Century).
