Rare Antique Waterbury USA Ships Wheel & Bell 8 Day Brass & Wood Mantel Clock

We have a large number of vintage and antique clocks currently listed along with an equally impressive collection of music boxes and other very nice collectibles. Be sure to have a look at our. This is a very rare ships bell clock that was produced by the "Waterbury Clock Company" in the USA.

The last patent date for the movement was "May 24, 1910" and it's displayed on the very back of the balance wheel movement. It is a stunning mantel clock and frankly I wish I had the time to do whatever is needed but I simply don't have the time to work on the old clocks like I used to.

The clock sits in a mahogany wood frame. It's made of thick brass metal and sports a remarkable patina.

The brass bezel is intact and so is the push button latch system which keeps it secure. The outer ring has most of the brass spindles but I don't know if they're original to the clock; sure look nice, though! There is a thick glass crystal inset into the bezel; no cracks or chips that I can see. The bezel is hinged and opens to allow access to the key wind, mechanical movement. I removed the movement for pictures and it does have the old "Waterbury Clock Company" signature logo on the back.

I noted that the movement is fully intact but not running... Springs are great and it appears to be intact.

The hands are present and when moved to the half hour and top of the hour, the mechanism does chime the ships time or bell time as it should. The clock measures about 10" high to the top of the rung, about 6" deep, and about 10 3/4 wide. Keep in mind this is an old clock and we don't know the service history and some adjustments or service will be necessary to get the clock running once the clock arrives at its new home. We often recommend to our clock customers to have their vintage or antique clocks serviced at least once every three years. Doing so will keep a classic clock like this one, healthy for years to come.

It is certain to be the focal point of any collection and capture the imagination of any guests in your home or office. Everyone is fascinated by this clock so have it repaired, repair it yourself, or leave it the way it is.
