Chelsea made mechanism was cleaned and adjusted. Clock keeps perfect time and bells strike correctly. Mahogany base is in excellent condition with a few scratches on the back of wood. Bronze main base is red brass and wheel spikes and case are yellow brass. Considered one of the finest nautically-inspired clocks ever made in this country, the Mariner is a true masterpiece of American clock making. A reproduction of an original yacht wheel, the Mariner was first patented and produced by Chelsea Clock in 1911. Featuring the renowned chiming Ships Bell mechanism. Its forged solid brass bezel opens with the original shield hinge-and-latch design. The clocks dial is painstakingly crafted of deeply etched brass that is hand silvered.
